About the role

The Principal Board Design Engineer will be part of a team that develops physical hardware development platforms based around custom system-on-chip (SoC) and FPGAs. You will be responsible the specification, development, and commissioning of new hardware platforms; leading the PCB development, including schematics, and commissioning; supporting the NPI process including management of external contractors and manufacturing support, and building and coordinating the team to deliver key projects.

Required skills and experience

• Detailed knowledge of embedded system board design, designing with complex LSI devices such as FPGAs, demonstrating an understanding of various high speed IO interface standards such as PCIe and DDR, PCB stack-ups and topologies
• Experience in leading multifunctional teams
• Comfortable working with cross functional teams and outsourcing companies

Desirable skills

• Knowledge of EDA tools for schematic entry PCB layout and signal integrity analysis
• Experience using Cadence CIS, Mentor PADs Layout, Allegro PCB design suite and Hyperlynx
• Embedded software knowledge to test and debug the design with a creative and structured approach to problem-solving
• RTL skills in Verilog or VHDL
